Setting Up a POP3 Email Account on Gmail

To set up a POP3 email account on Gmail, follow these steps:

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. Click on “Settings” > “See all settings.”
  3. Click on the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
  4. In the “POP download” section, select “Enable POP for all mail” or “Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.”
  5. At the bottom of the page, click “Save Changes.”
  6. Go to your email client (like Microsoft Outlook) and check these settings:
    • Incoming Mail (POP) Server: pop.gmail.com
    • Requires SSL: Yes
    • Port: 995
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.gmail.com
    • Requires SSL: Yes
    • Requires TLS: Yes (if available)
    • Requires Authentication: Yes
    • Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
  7. Enter your full name or display name, account name, user name, or email address, and your Gmail password.
  8. Troubleshoot any issues that may arise, such as “Username and password not accepted” or “Invalid credentials.”
